Chinese Scroll in Ink & Color, “White Rooster and Flowers” on paper canvas with paper mounting. Signature and 2 seals.

秋菊有佳色，八月丹桂黃。摹新羅山人，筆法具垣何。

qiū jú yǒu jiā sè, bā yuè dān guì huáng. mó xīn luó shān rén, bǐ fǎ jù yuán hé.–dì lín

The autumn chrysanthemum is blooming beautifully, while orange osmanthus becomes mature in August. As a Luo Mountain local imitating this new work, my calligraphy has totally captured its essence.– younger brother Lin

condition: Age related wear, foxing, stains and creases.

Scroll length: approximately 57 ½ inches.

Provenance: Purchased in Japan in the 1960’s. Condition: Foxing throughout that can be removed by a professional paper restorer. From the Private Collection of a North American Lady. All paintings were purchased in Post-World War II Japan from a Tokyo, Japan Paintings Collection that was originally formed in the early part of the 20th century.
