A Pair of MCM lounge Chairs made by Shield Chair Company of California made of walnut.

date: 1960-1970s

John K. Fossum, the son of Norwegian immigrants, established the company in California during the 1960s.

The company is best known for its “Scandinavian Modern” style. Many of its pieces, particularly the lounge chairs, strongly resemble iconic Danish designersuch as Ib Kofod-Larsen.
